Description
of Manufacturing Defect, Shipping Damage, and Normal Wear and Tear |
|
Manufacturing defect: Typically caused by faulty component or premature failure of components. Cause for manufacturing defects: Even though the manufacturers implement quality control measures to ensure the quality of the components and assembly procedures, there is always a remote possibility of defective or inferior components. This is a direct effect of any sampling process for quality control testing. For example, manufacturer can not test each and every switch for 10,000 on-off cycles, which is one of the specifications. Under those conditions, a predefined number of samples will be tested to accept or reject the whole batch. It is possible to accept a defective switch that can fail prematurely based on the sampling method. How we minimize manufacturing defects: Every effort is made to eliminate the use of defective parts. Visibly defective or damaged parts are discarded during assembly. After assembly every unit is tested for its operation with vessel and grinding stone (no grains or water in the vessel). In addition to the manufacturer's rigorous testing and quality control, Inno Concepts, Inc.'s quality control person in India also tests the units during and after assembly. After receiving the units at our warehouse in Atlanta, GA, our qualified technician checks all the units again, prior to shipping them to the customer. Typical examples (but not limited to) of manufacturing defects are: (1)
Defective or prematurely failed switch, Shipping Damage: Typically caused by improper handling during transit by shipping carrier. Cause for Shipping Damage: Due to the automated handling or rough handling of the shipment by shipping carriers (UPS or FedEx) How we minimize shipping damage: We study the normal handling of the shipment by the different shipping carriers and design a suitable package to handle the normal shipping conditions. We add additional packing materials to complement packaging provided by the manufacturers (reason for the handling charge). Accidents such as falling from the conveyor belt or from package handlers can cause damage. Shipping damage can be visible or concealed. The units are insured to cover shipping damages. We require customers to carefully inspect the unit upon arrival for any shipping damage (both visible and concealed). Typical examples (but not limited to) of shipping damages: (1)
Visible cracks and dents Normal Wear and Tear: Typically caused by normal use. The extent of normal wear and tear depends upon the frequency of use, how well the operating instructions are followed, how well the unit is cleaned after use, how well it is maintained. Normal wear and tear can be significantly reduced if operating, cleaning and maintenance procedures are strictly followed. Typical examples of normal wear and tear include (but are not limited to) the wearing down of: (1)
